We think Operation Transformation is great. So naturally, we want to get involved.
In conjunction with Operation Transformation in Redcross and Operation Transformation Wicklow Town we will be offering yoga classes for 6 weeks during the program.
The classes are open to anybody who is doing the Operation Transformation 2014 program and not confined to fans of the various local OT Facebook pages, although we really do recommend you link up with them!
Here’s where it gets really good. The first class on Saturday 25th will be absolutely FREE! After that the other classes will be just €5 per class to cover our costs. You see, we really, really want to support all of you who are embarking on the life changing program. Let’s get healthy Wicklow!
The classes will be on Saturday afternoons for for six weeks during the Operation Transformation program on RTE.
The class will be on from 2.30pm to 3.30pm in the Wicklow Community Resource Centre (Parochial Hall) on St. Patrick’s road in Wicklow Town. We can accommodate up to 50 people at this class on a first come first served basis.
The first class is on Saturday 25th January. You can come to just one class to try it out or to all of the classes if you wish.
If you have any questions please contact Claire Andrews directly on 085 160 3958.
What you need to bring for your class.
For classes in the Parochial hall we will have a limited number of yoga mats available. If you have your own please bring it. Alternatively a good thick beach towel will suffice. Some water to drink is also a good idea.
What to wear
Yoga is practiced bare footed, your clothing should be comfortable and allow a good range of movement (no jeans and big jumpers if you want to enjoy the class).
Why do yoga as part of Operation Transformation 2014?
For those of you who will be doing the walking / running exercises as part of Operation Transformation, yoga is fantastic for properly stretching those muscles which leads to decreased instances of injury. In fact many professional runners and sports people regularly practice yoga both to boost core strength and to reduce muscle and ligament injuries.
For those of you who are not so keen on running, yoga is a fantastic form of exercise in its own right for both men and women. All exercise has both physical and mental benefits. Yoga combines mental awareness with physical exercise in a way that no other exercise regime does. Operation transformation is about changing your habits and is as much a mental process as a physical one. Yoga can really help, the rest is up to you!
